The Foodie Review: Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen

The Trip to New York in January 2015 had allowed me the opportunity to have two things I have always wanted:

1. Satisfying  a year-long craving for a good Pastrami Sandwich
2. The experience of eating at a Kosher restaurant for the first time

This restaurant may have been the highlight of my trip, seriously.

Check out their Facebook Page at: https://www.facebook.com/benskosherdelifanpage

In my research to find the elusive Kosher Deli, I was absolutely delighted with the amount of certified Kosher establishments in New York which were very much all over the place. Once, Rayyan and I went on a hunt to find a Kosher deli locally but was extremely disappointed upon finding a restaurant that served “Kosher style” meat, but not actually kosher meat. Real Kosher Delis don’t seem to be a thing in Toronto.

Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen is the real thing, and you can check out their certification by clicking here. What excited me the most about Ben’s is the fact that they make all their meat products themselves and were highly rated all over the internet. Woohoo!

The Foodie Review: Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Matcha Cafe

The man himself.
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Uncle Tetsu, the newest Japanese dessert joint that’s taking Toronto by storm!

That’s right! After all the hype, we decided to venture forth to try the wares of this mystical café, propelled forward by the love of all things Japanese, cheesecake, and Rayyan’s new obsession with Matcha Green Tea (in fact, at the time of writing this post, I secretly found him searching for Matcha products on Ebay unprompted).
We had been downtown that day to explore the Matsuri Japanese Festival at Yonge-Dundas Square, but as we had arrived quite late there was nothing much to see or try,  we decided to go on a quest for Uncle Tetsu.
