After a long day of work, sometimes you just don't feel like cooking dinner, especially if you come home late. So, last week after work we decided to head to the plaza on Britannia and Mavis in Mississauga where we had a number of halal restaurants to choose from.
This time I wasn't feeling for Silver Spoon's Indian cuisine, nor pizza or Hakka Chinese, so instead we opted to try out Rooster's Edge, a fried chicken place we've heard a lot of good things about.
Immediately as we walked in we were greeted by the friendly owner, Br. Amer, and he spent a few minutes meticulously discussing with us about what we were interested in so as to suggest exactly what would hit the spot.
He first suggested the 4 piece meal as advertised on the sign outside, but needing MORE CHICKEN in the end we decided on a 9 piece chicken meal with large fries, 4 cans of pop, and also some coleslaw on the side to go. :D I couldn't wait to try it!
The restaurant was remarkably clean and tastefully decorated, and looked to be a great family setting to bring the kids. If I wasn't looking forward to going home and relaxing so much, I definitely would've been happy to eat here.
Rooster's Edge offers only hand-slaughtered halal chicken as well, in contrast to the various Popeye's Chicken places around the city.
The chicken was crunchy and well seasoned, the fries tasted fresh, and the coleslaw had this distinctly homemade taste to it, which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. We were also given a container of homemade hot sauce which was absolutely delicious.
We got these 4 cans of pop, but Br. Amer also allowed us to choose a 2L bottle of pop instead.
I was very happy to have visited here not only for the food but also the wonderful customer service from Br. Amer, who made us feel welcome and right at home. We felt like valued customers, a feeling you don't really get from popular chain restaurants, and I would definitely return on that merit alone.
